Great pictures and a good time, Carey. That was my wife and I that were the clients. I wish we had met you in the afternoon for what sounds like some good fishing, but we had to get back to Dallas. Thanks for showing me some new spots at LMF and putting us on some fish.

Did I see the same fish in multiple photos...you holding it, then your buddy, and then your client holding the same fish in two more photos?
What are the requirements to guide on the LMF? License, insurance? I was thinking of being a fishing guide myself. Yup same fish caught at two different times in the day on two different flys. Fat bastard was greedy and wanted all of the flys for himself, but i guess after they get their stomach pumped they get hungry again.

yup, same fish there! you r definitely right. the trout are spawning there at the moment. so after you release them, they go back to the spawning bed after awhile. as you can see, the river is pretty much crystal clear in 3 ft to 4ft of water. josh got the fish first at about 2 pm on my midge fly. then a few hours later, i got it on the woolly bugger. this was the male.... the female was about 5 inches longer than that one... you make a lot of sight casting there if you know how to spot the fish. tried for 4 albino trout for 20 minutes each.... never got them to bite. one of them followed my bugger 3 times but would not eat it.....

is it really a good idea to be catching trout off the spawning beds--especially multiple times? seems to me that alot of people have put in alot of work to get the river to where these trout will spawn and we ought to leave them alone when they are on the beds.

The browns would be the only ones spawning right now, correct?
It's more than the catfish would do.

So let me get this straight, YOU are a fishing guide casting and catching spawning fish? WHAT THE HELL? I guess conservation doesn't mean a damn to you. You take people's money and teach them to destroy the resource many people have spent time and money to try and protect. As an angler that fishes the LMF, I want to personally thank you for trying to destroy the only coldwater fishery near Dallas.

Dude, they are tail-worn stockers. Spawn? Sure, there's plenty of evidence of that - heck I've even caught fingerlings there, but Broken Bow exists due to stocking, not natural reproduction. SD

Maybe that sounds harsh on my part ... Rob Woodruff does seem to think it matters: "Trout Spawn- Both Rainbows and Browns are beginning to pair up and spawn on the river. If you see two trout together, please give them a pass and fish for them (and their babies) on another trip. Also keep your eyes open while wading and avoid stepping on any saucer to plate sized areas of clean gravel. This could be a spawning bed (redd) and contain eggs or fry." - from Woodruff's latest update. SD

Guys alot of money and effort has been put into the LMF to make it an outstanding trout fishery. The fact that natural reproduction occurs shows the improvements are working. Where do you think the natural reproduction came from? Stocked fish.
If you guys want the LMF to ever be more than a put and take fishery, you'll treat all the trout with more respect.

This one's worth coming out of lurking status for...
Where are the pics of these 20+ in fish??? You caught so many of them but no pics?
Catching spawners, whether or not they are stockers going just going through the motions, is classy for sure.
At least it seems like your fish handling has improved from all of those fish pics laying on rocks/leaves/etc in your photobucket album. Might as well toss 'em on a stringer next time.
