Well, i met my clients at 7 am due to they forgot to get the Miss's a license. so while i was waiting for them to return, i hit Lost Creek area below the "Cold Hole" with Angler_Josh and showed him what i could in the dark. caught a fish on the 1st cast. then 2 more within 15 minutes, and then my clients came back from the store, ready to go fishing... so i told Josh where to go and left him on his own...
I took them (clients) to Cardiac Hill to start out first so i could teach them how to roll cast and get away from people if we could. there were only 4 guys there, so we walked about 200-300 yards down stream. My client told me to focus on his wife mainly, to try to get her more interested in fly fishing, so he could take her when they went fishing again. Within 10 minutes of teaching her the "Roll Cast", she finally placed the fly where i wanted her to put it, and immediately hooked a fish. Looked to be about 20 plus inches after it jumped out of the water and broke off. She was holding the fly line to tight and broke her off.... bummer. They caught 4 i think out of the spillway area, then i took them to Lost Creek area near the Cold Hole and found a couple big big big bow's spawning. she hooked one of them and it jumped again, but this time it threw the hook. in this one little pocket, she hooked about 5 five and i think landed 2....? pretty good for never fly fishing before.-- with the current and learning how to play a fish w/o horsing it, she did very well..... Proceeded to hook fish throughout the day, but still she got to excited and broke most of them off.... at least 15-20 fish. (i need to tie a lot of fly's now) but she was super happy and cant wait to get into them next time. i tried to talk them into coming back to the river later, after their family thing, and they said they might. I didnt have time to show them how to fish the Evening Hole, and i told them if they came back i would spend a little more time with them since i had nothing to do the rest of the day, but fish... but i guess they went back to FTW... wish they came back because around 3 pm it turned on!
but after the trip around noon,i picked josh back up, and we ate lunch and i tied ten fly's up and hit the water. Josh has never been fly fishing before and within a 1/2 an hour of showing him the ropes we started to tear into them. i have taken him fly fishing for bass a couple times , so i did not have to teach him to cast or anything. all i had to do is tell him what fly to use and where. the afternoon bite was on fire! almost every fish was 17 inches on average with a about 3-4 that were 20-21 inches. i was sitting next to the river and josh called my name and i looked over at him and he was fighting a fish. the weird thing was, he was in that little stagnant water next to the evening hole. i guess when they had the gates open a couple got stuck in there. i made a cast in the little hole and immediately also caught another fish out of it. caught 2 out of it and josh got 3.
All the bigger fish were on a modified woolly bugger i tie for that river. and then the rest were on my Broken Bow Special Midge that i tie as well. at the end of the day right before dark i tied on an egg pattern, due to they were nailing my indicator. i picked up about a dozen or so on that, and then i just could not see my indicator anymore and we called it a day.
Now, we left the gas station in downtown Broken Bow at exactly 6:45 pm. i pulled up to Josh's house at exactly 9:11 PM. 2.5 hours to get to Plano. so for those that it takes over 3 hours to get there, i can give you directions that think it takes longer. So that should settle the pet peeves about people saying they get places faster than they actually do. this time i had someone driving with me.
more pics and another report around Saturday sometime.... Enjoy!

That was an insane trip! That was my first time to broken bow and my first time fly fishing for trout, i caught the trout fever and cant wait to go back. Tarponfly knows that river extremely well and is an excellent guide when it comes to finding the fish, we had a fish on with in minutes of getting our lines wet and it stayed that way until dark.

Great pictures. Thanks for the post. ...i pulled up to Josh's house at exactly 9:11 PM. 2.5 hours to get to Plano... Reminds me of when I moved from Memphis to Tulsa. On several road trips, it took 6 hours to get back to Tulsa. Didn't seem to matter how many stops I made, I got into Tulsa in 6 hours +-10 minutes.

Tarponfly, those pictures were just gorgeous. I loved the time I went there last year in October. That is one beautiful place. I could spend a lot of time fishing in that area, as I loved streams like that, and don't get to fish them nearly often enough. I know my son loved that area too. He would love to go back too.

Did I see the same fish in multiple photos...you holding it, then your buddy, and then your client holding the same fish in two more photos?
What are the requirements to guide on the LMF? License, insurance? I was thinking of being a fishing guide myself.
