There's lots of squirrel huntin around the DFW area. Most of the Corps of engineers lakes allow hunting with a shotgun. It does require a permit but its free. Lake Benbrook is one that comes to mind, also Aquila and Whitney. There could be others just ask at the corps office. The one for Benbrook is by the dam. I used to love to squirrel hunt don't know why I quit going. They don't have cat(grey) squirrels around here just fox squirrels, which is good for old fat men like me because they don't run like cat squirrels do.

Way to go Mev002! A dead squirrel is a tasty squirrel!
My opinion is worth what you paid for it...
The phenomenon formerly known as Weather shall now on be called Climate Change.

I'm not good enough with a 22 to always count on making "head shots." I hunt em with a .410 shooting #4's. That way you can reach out and get em high up in a tree but you don't put so many pellets in them that you ruin them.
I don't live for the thump, but I sure do like it.
