I am right-handed and switched to left-handed reels three years ago. Improved my cast count and number of catches on the initial drop.

I'm a lefty and have always cast with my left and reeled with my right. Only seems natural and I keep my lure wetter than those who have to switch hands.

I fish my spinning reels left handed but my baitcasters are right handed. I have known several right-handed fisherman that do this. Each to his own but this has never made sense to me. I started out fishing a Mitchell Garcia 300 that was left hand retrieve. When I started using a bait cast reel, it never made sense to me to retrieve any way but with my left hand.

Grew up using my right hand to reel, eventually got into using spinning reels almost as much as baitcasters. Here's where it gets weird. I CANNOT use a right handed spinning reel (i.e. handle on right side) nor can I use a left-handed baitcaster. I don't know what it is, but I've got to use lefty spinning reels and right handed baitcasters. Throw both with my right hand. Worse yet, I can't set the hook very well with a spinning rig unless it's in my right hand, and have to use my left with a baitcaster. Kinda weird to me, but oh well.
No fish is too good for the grease.

Started as a kid with spinning reels. First baitcast was right handed and didnt feel right. Took it back and got lefty and fished that way ever since. Also keeps my loser buddies from using my stuff. HEHEHEHe

Broke my right hand recently. (I'm right handed.) Had to learn how to cast left handed and reel spinning reels right handed. Now my hand has healed & I'm still casting bait-casters left handed to keep from switching after the cast. But, I'm back to reeling my spinning outfits left handed & casting them right handed. Funny what you can do when you are forced into it.

Always fished left handed and everytime my buddies go out with me they switch all my spinning reels. Always thought they were the backwards ones! I have zero coordination with my left arm, so if I hold a rod there I can't pop lures or set hooks without looking like I am having a seizure or somethin

Funny me and a buddy were talking about this sunday
on long cast baits like cranks spinner baits and deep t-rigs a c-rigs I don't think it makes that much of a difference... But flipp'n if is WAY WAY more effecient to hold it in your left and reel/work the line with your right...

I'm right handed but use a left handed reel. In baseball, I catch with the left hand and throw with the right hand so it just seemed natural to use a left handed reel. It makes me feel good to hear so many others are doing the same thing.
