Black Angel Jigs uses kevlar thread to tie thier skirts...that is how I eliminated the rotting collars..other than that...i havent found anything that will completely prevent rotted collars...i think the rubber just goes bad after so long.

Mike,
Good tip. Using thread, more of a hassle but less in the long run. Maybe with thread you could even leave a plastic trailer on without having to worry about the rubber band touching it. Only problem is if you have to replace a skirt (up here Pike tend to beat them up at times) and its tied on, then what?

I use left over braided line to tie on the skirts to my jigs and or spinnerbaits.
I keep my jigs in a rectangular tupperware container. It is cheap, it holds a lot of jigs. I keep my finess jigs in a smaller tupperware container. You just dump them out on deck, pick out the one you want and toss the rest back in. I do this with my spinnerbaits and buzzbaits also.
I keep my trailers in the package they come in and have them in a soft side tackle box.

Small plastic tie wraps. Quick, easy and have lasted well so far.

Whats so good about copper wire vs. regular picture hanging wire or something? Is copper easier to wrap? What thickness? I want to try it. Rust, copper will corrode but it takes a while.Copper is soft easy to work with unwraps easier when its time for a new skirt Something around 20ga should work just fine

Bp Swing, I use the 3714 FlipSider box (see link below). You can't store the jigs including trailers with this system, but I don't like leaving the trailers on while in storage anyway. Some of the trailers I use have heavy salt content and can corrode the hooks. Also, the wide head jigs, like the football, will not fit in the compartments, but I store those on the left hand side underneath the first flip compartment. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_58140____SearchResults

A friend of mine has all his jig heads of different sizes, styles and colors in a plano box and he has all the different skirts in another, so he builds whatever combo he wants when he needs it.

I like the way you think works great. I also have a label maker and make labels for all my boxes, down to each "compartment" so when I pull the box I need out, I know right where each color/size is etc.

I paint my own jig heads and put on my own skirts at the house. It is pretty cool what you can come up with. I use this to hang my jigs at the house and I am coming up with a way to put it on my boat. Right now I carry my jigs in 5 different boxes labeled according to weight, color, presentation, ect... I bought the holder at harbor freight for under a dollar. I think that I have 6 of them at the house. bogey

+1 on the flipsider box. I have 1 flipsider for most of my jigs, and then about half of a regular 3700 box for big football heads and odd shaped jigs. You can cram a jig w/ trailer into a flipsider. I tie my skirts with thread (like you would tie a fly) so I don't worry about the trailers rotting the collar.

falcon makes a jig box. works good for most standard headed jigs problem ive run into is my football head and swim jig heads wont fit it x 1,000,000,000,000,000 The Falcon jig box is the best thing that ever happened to me....I actually bought another one to keep my jigs organized in the house before they make it to the other jig box. I think each box holds ~32 jigs.
