OK I learned the hard way this year. Alot of my rubber bands on the skirts broke because I stored soft plastic baits (attached to the jigs) in bags (Bass Pro binder bags) I no longer store the plastic trailers on my jigs because I dont want to ruin anyomre skirts. The binder bag system is fair. I wish there was a better way to organize jigs so you could clearly see them, organize by size, and leave the trailer on. Does anyone have a better system?

I store mine in a regular Plano 3700 box...... I then keep my trailers in a smaller plano box.

Alot of the rubber bands on jigs&spinnerbaits rott until they break and you lose the skirt regardless of being stored with or without a trailer.Only way to combat this is to use braid or copper wire and go around the skirt a few times to reinforce it. If the rubber band breaks you keep the skirt in place. Also keeps from getting your pants pulled down when you set and dont get dont get hook penetration.Saves time of having to reel in check/fix then throw back. You can leave the bait there and more often than not get bit.

I use 5 full-size plano boxes for mine. This has worked great for me.

I arrange the columns of the boxes by weight and the rows of the box by general color hues (Greens, Browns, Blacks)

BOXES -

1) Flippin Jigs

2) Finesse Jigs

3) 3/8 & 1/2 Football Jigs

4) 3/4 & 1oz Football Jigs

5) Swim Jigs

I don't store mine with a trailer, you will be able to cram more jigs into your boxes without them. Instead, I carry a large assortment of trailers in my boat in their respective packaging. AND, for quick use (this has worked great for me), used another plano box (the same size) to hold the 4 most common trailers that I use. Again, all arranged by amount of action, size and color hues.

This system allows me to carry an absurd number and assortment of jigs in my boat as well as my favorite trailers and all the while keeping them organized, easy to find and ready for quick use.

Try it! I hope this works for you.

One thing you can do is take 12 to 15 pound test and tie it around your collar. I have saved many a skirt doing this not as good as copper wire but can get you thru the day if you notice your skirt collar cracking.

Whats so good about copper wire vs. regular picture hanging wire or something? Is copper easier to wrap? What thickness? I want to try it.

Is there a way to put a new skirt band around a skirt already cut away from the rubber end thats used when they make em? Its hard getting all the strands inside the small band.

OH wait I just remembered a video I saw on utube where a guy cut a bic pen in half, put the band on the pen, slid the bands inside the pen and then slid the band off the pen on to the skirt. Answered my own question sorry.
