Heres a pic of my youngest...Thanks Dwayne
Is that young man holding up that big redfish all by himself? Whether he is or isn't, he certainly looks like a future Master Angler, or even an Elite Angler! My kudos also to Dwayne for helping you out... he learned from the best, Jackie Blue.

I would love to go back and give it another shot with my boys. Does anyone have any suggestions for catching reds? We were using shrimp and some small shad. The shrimp was on the bottom while the shad was under a cork about 5 feet down.
Thanks for any help, Gober

That son of mine Luke is the future of fishing. All you out there need to be taking your kids out on the lake. Luke is always ready to go catch a fish. Luke did have assistance from Dwayne holding up that fish. Hiring a guide like Jackie is surely the best way to get started on a new lake. And you get the joy of the company of Peanut...

I have wondered if there was much of a difference in the 2 and now i'm going to have to plan a trip next time i'm up that way.

How does water temperature effect the redfishing? That water can get a sweltering 90degrees. Does that require you to fish deep or do you still target shore areas? There are two boat ramps within the state park on the eastern shore, the southernmost one is inaccessible to most motor boats due to low water level. Local maps indicate a road access or nearly access the south end of the dam, but Iv'e never found that road. Be advised the entire northside of the lake is off limits (older maps still show access to either side of the power plant) for launching boats or accessing for bank/wadefishing.

I have measured Fairfield outfall at as high as 111 F. The lake surface temperature is well above 90 F all summer long, normally.
Fish are cold blooded, metabolically hot fish are running on supercharge, eating with especially fast digestion of what they ate. (Always HUNGRY fish)
Heard of a few huge reds being caught in water over 102 F some years ago, this is a very trusted source who did the catching of those two fish. Either fish would have been C&RRs had he known of that record series at that time.
PS this is a very dangerous temperature water to be above should you fall overboard. There is a temperature below 110 F (cannot recall the exact number) that will kill you. I had fished 109 F water and caught LMB and Reds, before I knew it could kill me if I went down (from heat stroke) from the high air temperature and humidity above this water and fallen into the water instead of my boat. It ain't pleaseant fishing above water that hot, and it certainly does not make me hungrey for more bites in that area.
