it does have a hook in it, the bend goes right down at the back of the frog, i didnt have a longer one at the time

I don't see anything too big to throw with a fly rod..nice poppers btw I concur. Did you mean with the rod weights you own, or flyrods in general? Because a 10wt should have no problem heaving those bad boys.

Hell an 8 weight up-lined 2 weights could chunk those with ease. I think if you got skills an 8wt with a bass bug taper would be fine. Got me some foam yesterday. . .
 It's more than the catfish would do.

Oh I agree, but you have to remember the bass bug taper lines usually have a head 2 line sizes heavier, the regular #8 line head.

Well, I was thinking 8 as well, but if we're going to be throwing them into a 20 mph wind, I'd like to have a 10 And honestly, that's all we've had down here lately. Ides of March in early August.
