I also caught my first fish on MC...
Got pictures of me, my dad and my brother with 5-7lb bass on stringers (I was like 6-7 yrs old)...back in the 60's and a ice chest full of sand bass.
The TPWD has stocked this lake several times with Florida fingerlings. Back in the 80's, when the state record was around 15lb...the TPWD were doing a creel survey and shocked up a bass that was over 16lb's. They released it back into the lake.
I am sure there are some bass over 10lb lbs the lake...there has to be with all the bate fish I have seen in the past.
Matter of fact, I'm going out there next Friday...anyone want to join me...I've got some left over Christmas trees I need to sink.

This has always been a frustrating lake for me. I've only fished it about 15-20 times, and there is only ONE spot where I've caught fish, but I almost always catch them in that spot (mostly dinks, however). In fact when I was taking my young son out and I wanted to ensure he would catch something---that is where we'd go.
It's that point on the SE side of the lake. The last time I was there (over a year ago) the depth was only 4-6 feet. Throw some shallow cranks there and most likely you'll get bit. As mentioned, they are small, but it's better than being skunked, in my opinion. ;-)
Go Fishing!

i lived about 5 minutes from this lake for about 13 years now, have only bass fished it about 10 times from a boat and always did best on the west side of the lake north and south ends, but it was during cool parts of the year, but i have always had good luck catfishing with chicken livers anywhere on the lake as well
I thank God for each day!

The ramp is just a creepy scene, either one. People just drive out there and sit in their cars at 5am. Very weird!! Also, I really could not deal with the constant fiestas going on all the time on the bank and the little mijos swimming on the boat ramp so I quit going out there a few years ago. If you see people fishing from the bank that look suspect or see them keep an illegal fish call the game warden. I forgot his name but he is very responsive.
