Seems like every boat livewell would have to be exactly the same for any further testing. Livewell size makes a huge difference and would be a huge factor on any of these tests right?

Sorry for not seeing this sooner....... That will be up to the biologist. It would be a factor, but with livewell care the dissolved oxygen level should be ok for a small one or a big one if done correctly. I think it has more to do with the fish surviving low oxygen levels than anything. And it will also give the individual who owns the boat an idea of how well their livewell does work. Good teaching tool. Most tournament fisherman that I know don't carry a D.O. meter around with them, me included. So that will be a good learning experience IMO.

First of all you guys are to be congradulated on your effert. Many people stand by and do nothing. thanks for that. I have a question, by no means is it meant than anything more than satisfying my curiosity.
I understand that cool water holds more O2 than warm water. My ? is: What effect do you think changing temps have on the bass. say the water in the lake is 75, you put a fish in th lw and its 65, it changes throughout the day, fish goes to holding tank which is lets say 70, then back to the lake which is 75. Could this have some shock effect on the fish? Once agian thanks for ur work.

Hornet it can have an effect if the water is too cold and the fish comes out of warm water. It can actually kill them if it's too cold. We do a 10 degree differential between water temp and livewell temp. (and weigh-in tank temp.). 15 degrees is maximum we have ever done this with no negative effect. 10 degrees doesn't have any negative effect as long as the lake water is not cold to begin with. We only begin to do this once surface temps get above 73 - 75 degrees. One must also take into account the depth at which the fish was caught or what depth the fish came out of to strike your lure.. 10 ft. is cooler than the surface etc., etc...... I have a temp gauge that I lower into the water to find the thermocline in the summer. Works great. It will give you the best idea of what temp. your fish came from. So in essence, keeping it within the 10 degree to 15 degree cooler range is all you need. That will keep them from being stressed anymore than they already are and help keep the dissolved oxygen at acceptable levels with hydrogen peroxide or actual pure tank oxygen usage in your livewell. Hope that answers your question.

where are these results published? I want to read the original article please. They will be published for the study after the last session, which will be our August 2nd Summer Trail Tournament. The entire study will then be tabulated etc.... and results published after data analysis completion . If your question was directed at me that is................

Yes Thank you Carl. So I am right in assuming then you are part of the group preforming the study, I did read about the proposed study on TPWD and am interested to see the written report.

Yes you are correct. I will also be doing a power point/slide show presentation of the study etc. at the Texas B.A.S.S. Federation Nation state presidents meeting August 15th in Austin at Dave and Busters if you happen to be going to it.

Actually I wanted to do my own write up on your results (with your permission of course) and for the personal knowledge... I am very interested in the results.
