The mortality rate of the Non sick fish is what is most puzzling

Was for us too. The only conclusion we could come up with is 1. Poor Livewell Care 2. Normal fishing Mortality (couple we cut open had brand new 5/0 hooks in their guts).

Would have been interesting to check the dissolved oxygen level in each livewell. May have to do that next tournament with a D.O. Meter. Also one thing we found that was useful and a great improvement was the salt bath in conjunction with the sure-life addatives. It almost ELIMINATED all the fungus infection on the fish that was present in previous studies. We are going to incorperate it into our weigh-in pocedures for the future in the weigh-in tanks. Help get rid of all the fungus created by the handling (and in most cases mis-handling) of the fish.

I see nothing more than the proof of importance in livewell care by anglers on the water, prior to weighin.

GREAT STUFF Carl! I really want to see livewell disolved oxygen data at time of weigh-in. That is a big variable. Additionally, it is interesting that (from our phone conversation) there was no indication of fungus growing on the fish as was previously reported after the FLW/Stren tournament. A result of the use of Sure-Life products and the salt dip.
I would submit that if all the anglers in the next event followed the Sure-Life livewell care criteria to the letter and maintained a disolved Oxygen level over 5PPM either with pressurized oxygen or hydrogen peroxide, that the mortality rate would again be cut in half.

Almost forgot. The Dissolved Oxygen reading in the weigh-in tanks read between 8 and 10 ppm.

Non-Sick Fish (Did not need fizzing) - 60% Survival 18 out of 29 ______________________________________
Could the determination of which fish belonged in this group and didn't need fizzing have caused what appears to be a higher death rate? Perry

I think TDs should make an effort to add a rule when you get your livewell checked that you need to have ice and livewell additives in there already or visible in the boat... that way the amount of people using it will increase some..IMHO

Could the determination of which fish belonged in this group and didn't need fizzing have caused what appears to be a higher death rate? Perry The fish picked for this group were swimming normally in the weigh tanks. The one's to be fizzed were floating upside down in the tanks. The normal swimming fish didn't need the fizzing done to them and were thus put in that group.

Almost 40% mortality is a good rate for a summer tournament? Sounds awful to me.
