Now that I think about it, I bet there are quite a few bodies of water throughout the southern US that have records in them. Back in 86-87, Ft Gordon, GA....Augusta, one of the dirt dams broke and drained one of its bigger ponds. They weighed two 18 pounders that day. I think we underestimate the waryness of large bass.

Im not sure on this one. If it was ligit I think we would see more about it on OTHER THAN FORUM BOARDS...Do a google search and I didnt see any new reports or anything official, just message boards.

But even if it is ligit, congrats to the angler, Japan can hold on to the record for a little while. Just keep your eyes on Dixon, Castaic and Diamond Valley...Not to mention the laked out here, GA and FL.

No offense, but is that a man or a woman? I know the bass is female, but the angler is up for debate.

your Damn right Dan!! this guy earned it!!! some of you guys are Freaking retarded!!!!!!!! As much as i hate to admit this, the Japanese are so much more advanced in the fishing industry that the USA. Whats amzing to me is that you guys are so quick to discredit someone just because cause there not from the US. Japan has been making almost 80% of your gear since you began fishing. Daiwa, Shimano, Megabass, Evergreen, Deps, Norise, Palms, Diako, Gan Craft, Major Craft, Damiki, Lucky Craft, Jackall, Yozuri, Roboworm, Ima, Yamamoto. Thats just to name a few, im sure some of you guys have never even heard of some of these but Japan has been in the fishing industry just as long as we have.

I would venture to say the Japan outsource most of it production to poor and 3rd world country, Like China, Bangladesh, etc.......

Why would it have to be 2 ounces over to be considered a new record? That makes no sense to me. Bigger is bigger right? Maybe I'm not seeing the big picture but that doesn't hardly seem fair.

IGFA requires that due to irregularity in scales. I dont agree, but that is the reason. They want the two ounces to be sure of the weight in different scales. Thats why.
