diamond back water snake. and yes, pretty much any snake in Texas can swim. some of y'all are horrible, if its not doing anything to you, leave it alone. less than 10% of the snakes you see in Texas are gonna be venomous. that is, unless your in a very heavily rattlesnake packed area.

I have a five foot rule. I stay 5' away and if the poor snake decided to violate my personal space I violate his with something very heavy and six feet long.

I took a buddy (with his foot in a cast) fishing. While backing trailer in to load,he starts hopping around boat with his pistol drawn. I hollered don't shoot your boat. He said it's your boat and there is a snake! I said if you shoot the snake in the boat the boats yours!!!!

Regardless of what flavor it is, if it has fewer or more legs than me, I don't want it on me.

Now THAT is funny! That is EXACTLY how I look at snakes and scream like a 6-year-old school girl when I see one! If it was in the water, its a water moccasin. If it was on dry land, its a rattle snake. LMAO, you cant be serious

If it's not in the water, then it's a boa constrictor, cobra, black mamba or rattlesnake. I'll ID it after it's dead.....kinda like I would do if an intruder came into my home.
