My neighbor had this snake slip into the water with him last night. He called me over after he had done the deed on it. I'd like to confirm before rendering a ruling.

It was dead before I got there and I did not suggest that it be dispached, so please no grief for the dead snake.

From the way hed described its swimming ability, I have no doubt that it's a watersnake. The real question is: Is it a diamond back?

If it was in the water, its a water moccasin. If it was on dry land, its a rattle snake. scared

Diamondback watersnake... Harmless, though pugnacious.
