My neighbor had this snake slip into the water with him last night. He called me over after he had done the deed on it. I'd like to confirm before rendering a ruling. It was dead before I got there and I did not suggest that it be dispached, so please no grief for the dead snake.

If it was in the water, its a water moccasin. If it was on dry land, its a rattle snake.

Diamondback watersnake... Harmless, though pugnacious.

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.
