Last week on Palestine me and some of my friends were catching them in 25 feet of water. While another friend of mine on the same day was catching them in two feet of water with jigs. All the ones we caught were full of eggs in 25 feet of water.

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Im sure you can find them anywhere from 1ft to 20ft right now. the only difference is the 20ft fish might be 2ft down.

Normally about mid April in north central Texas the crappie are about half spawned out, its actually starting to wind down about this time of the year. Its about this time of the year some are still very shallow and some will finish out in deeper water (normally up to 15 feet cover spots), thats when I start working on them. If you like to fish shallow - best to get out of the boats and walk/wade the banks (nothing is more fun than that). But its right now lots of them finish out their spawn deeper (allowing me to fish the cover spots in the boats with customers). Today caught fish up to 18 feet on cover spots (2 lb plus Big Ol Girls) all catch and release, and by the looks of them they are well over half spawned out.

Thanks Stuckey, They are Beautiful fish, and today they fought really good (better than normal) - I had the rod tip in the water several times today (trying to them from hitting that water), much like Bass Fishing - that is good day for those guys to fight like they did today - they were feeling frisky. Someday I'm going to have to keep some of those and mount them (I just love those mounts with two or three Big Crappie sitting next to a log). I dont have many fish mounted, but the ones I do - I really, really appreciate them (but those picture work too, I appreciate them too).

I agree with you 100%! I need to come fish Richland Chambers sometime. Stuckey, RC is a great lake (its got it all Trophy Big Blues (the super Huge - I just loved them this winter) and tons of them if you want to catch the good eaters, Big Ol Crappie, White Bass out your you know what and the fun Hybrids, and for the Black Bass well its Bass Fishing good days and bad right there but its known for the Big ones they are there too). Its a very good lake. But if you want to focus just on the Crappie there are easier lakes (Aquilla and Navarro Mills) they are hard to beat on that (smaller lakes are just easier to learn). Come on when you are ready to go (Im here to help) just call I'll take you fishing and we'll get em or just help you find them (if I can). I'm here,

www.TexasGuideFishing.com Always - Just look at that Web Site everyday - It tells the whole story see http://www.texasguidefishing.com/photos.html the current photos - I post pictures on every trip (and even like today when it's just me out scouting around). - Just keep hitting more photos to go back in time (to the beginning of Texas Guide Fishing - they are all there - from the very beginning). It's all there, (and a good source just to see how the bite is going).
