Hey guys I'm new to the forum. I'm a Freshman in Aggieland wondering if there's any good bank fishing spots in the area? I know about the city ponds already, but don't have much luck at them. Any help's appreciated.

I went out to lake bryan late evening around 5-7 and fished. didnt catch a damn thing! not even a bite. threw soft plastics, crank bait, live worms, soft worms, ratL traps, pretty much everything i had. Never been a big crappie fisher, what should i use, and where is a good spot to bank fish on bryan? i tried fishing near the bridge, but too many boats. walked near the dam still nothing. seemed really shallow too.

Try Someville This time of year the whites and hybirds around the spillway or welch park off the inland. Had some good luck last week out at Birtch park off the point, was using ghost minnows or smaall white spinner baits caught some short blacks on rattle-traps butt they were still fun. There has been a lot of crappie caught off the pier

You might try looking into joining the Aggie Anglers Club. I am class of 2010 and I have thought about joining. I think they try to pair people with people who have boats so everyone can hit the lakes!

I'm not sure if I will join this next year...but I'm always up for bank fishing.

Can't help you with the fishing but I'll give you a WHOOP!!!! bump.

My daughter is an Aggie, class of 2011.....loves it there. Wife and I will be headed that way the 18th for Parents Weekend.

Gig 'em.

If your on foot, Big Creek and Lake Somerville marina over at somerville have piers and crappie houses. I'm a fan of Big Creek myself. Lotta big fish there if you catch it right.

There's a lot of accessable bank at Gibbons, too. Crappie, cats, bass are all there.

Lake Bryan and I have never got along, so I can't help you there.

What you need to do is get a yak. They're cheap and give you many more options.

Whoop,
JC

Thanks again. I'll have to look into that Aggies fishing thing, and as far as a boat goes, I'm thinking of setting up a flat bottom this summer to run lines in, so I shouldn't be stuck on the banks for much longer.

definitely join aggie anglers ...was one of the best things i ever did

try yegua creek in the spring (http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbt...hit#Post1808900
)

bank fishing around BCS
http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbt...ATI#Post2144035

havent fished these in several years ...dont know if they are still accessible:

used to fish walden pond apartments alot (got permission from the manager for catch/release) ...mostly small bass but it has good size cats and carp ...caught most of my bass on white beetle spins with 2" white curly tail grub and 4" walmart plum/pink tail worms rigged texas style ...caught-photographed-released a 24.5" largemouth on that 4" worm

if you can get back there, there was a deep hole in carter creek behind sams/movie theater off the bypass at harvey rd ...there was a waterfall where the creek turned behind the theater ...by the car dealership and old golf course

fished the pond south of st thomas church on the bypass (smells)

join Aggie Anglers Bass Fishing Club

Thanks man, every bit helps. The more places I know of to try, the less I'll be stuck in this damn apartment.
