If you ask a Crappie fisherman how many fish he caught and he says something like, “Aw, together we caught about thirty-six.” pay close attention to that little warning bell in your head!
Any self-respecting, law-abiding Crappie fisherman will always know EXACTLY how many fish he caught!
Not that I think any fisherman would intentionally lie, mind you, but if you would like to determine a more precise number, there is a simple solution - -
In my head, I simply take the number told me, divide it by three, multiply by 2.55, subtract the total of all the numbers in my mother’s social security number, then apply the formula used to determine the friction loss in a 100 foot section of ¾ inch water hose @ 65 PSI with “K” representing the inside diameter of the hose and “Q” representing the sustained volume, and this gives me a more probable and believable count!
However, if there are more than two people in the boat, this formula goes out the window!

That's funny because I use the same formula with the axis of the earth and in relations to the speed rotation of the moon.

How does the formula work when the angler says that he "caught a messovum?"

In lakes where you don't have to keep all caught I don't really keep up with how many we caught. I do keep up with how many are in the livewell. thumb
But, yeah, if you ask how many we caught individually I know how many I caught and kept. It's a guy thing to know if he is outfishin' his partner or not. hmmm

Hey, thanks, Cropietx! Neat idea! I’ll give that a try next time! (Yeah, right! Like I’ve got any idea of what we’re both talking about!)

Big Possum and Pappy, I refuse to admit to anything! If I told the truth about how many fish I catch, everyone would know how lousy a fisherman I really am!

Sorry guitarbob! The formula won’t work in that case. If the numbers are arbitrary, you have to utilize the WAG method. (Wild-A$$ Guess)

I agree, Mo. My normal objective is to see how many minnows I can drown or how many jigs I can loose.

Good point, BigMac. At the end of the day, I go by the numbers on the counter. Fortunately for me, I don’t need a counter that has a bunch of numbers on it!

If I'm fishing with the wife, I have to keep track of how many I've caught cuz she certainly counts hers and usually when she whips me out there she likes to compare our numbers.

+1 on the Clicker

As far as the astronomical equations, it hurts too much when I think that hard....I go with the KISS: Keep it Stupid, Simple!

I don't need to know how many I caught. I just ask Guy what he caught and double it. Usually pretty close. rolfmao
