4lb, never use anything larger for crappie or trout.

I really like the sufix performance braid in high vis yellow, 10#test that is equivilent to 4# mono in diameter. VERY STRONG and small in diameter.
I'm always in a good mood when I'm fishing. Kevin Kubiak Lakes Somerville and Granger, crappie guide 512-848-4469 www.hotcrappie.compro staff; proanglertackle.com

I use 10 lb test High Vis yellow Power Pro. Out of fishing for crappie over 40 years it is the best I have found.

10# Power Pro yellow. Nuff said!!! As far as breaking off goes, I almost always can pull my jigs and hooks straight. If not, wrap line around your shirt sleve to pull. Best line ever made.

10# Stren. Lighter the line more fish is an old wives tale.

10# Stren. Lighter the line more fish is an old wives tale. I agree with that. Caught lots of fish with 12-14# over the years.

I went to Wally World and found some Trilene XL 8lb clear blue for a dollar and bought a spool of it. So far it has been great and I have not had any issues with this line. I was using some Cajun red cast line in 10lb but it is hard to see on the water.

Where can I buy Power Pro? I don't think I've ever seen it.

Most anywhere. Acadamy, BPS, Dicks sporting goods, I think they might even sell it at Wally World.

I know that Dick's and Walmart do not carry the yellow Power Pro. Bass Pro and Cabelas do though.

Even the crappie experts disagree. I am no expert but do have an opinion. ( which smells just like the experts) It all depends on the application. I do feel that hi-vis is the way to go , some days you will see more strikes than you feel. I use an 20lb braid for brushpiles because I got tired of losing so many jigs. I use 6 lb hi vis for most other apps. Two things about line size and jig size. # 1 you must maintain "feel" . the lighter the jig and the deeper the water , the lighter the line must be to feel what the jig is doing. # 2 fall rate. a 1/16 oz jig will fall faster on 4 lb test than 12 lb test. this is where line size can really make a big difference in catch rate. now sometimes the crappie want a slow fall and sometimes they like fast fall and sometimes it don't matter. My dad caught a ton of crappie on a flyline tied to a welding rod , so I don't think they are line shy. MO
