We are having an impact. I got the following response and sent the following reply to KRLD today:

Keep emailing and calling until we get this changed.

"Spittle, Gavin J" <Gavin.Spittle@cbsradio.com> wrote:

Mr. Morgan, we continue to run the show on Sunday’s. I’m sorry that you disagree with our decision. Do you listen to the Sunday program?

Gavin Spittle

My reply:
Yes, I listen to both hours on Saturday and the one on Sunday. HOWEVER, the Saturday at 5 am is the most important hour. I am usually on my way to the lake at that hour and want the latest in conditions, fishing weather, info from the guides, etc. Why not just move Costas to 4 am to 5 on Saturday and leave the fishing show alone. Costas is a recorded show; it can run at any hour. Brian Hughes has a live show with important time sensitive info at the 5 am hour on Saturday. Move the Costas show to a less important hour.

Please note, I will continue to email your advertisers until I get this changed. Several of us are regularly posting about this issue on the texasfishingforum.com. The forum has over 30,000 registered members. Surely you can see the significance of not upsetting such a large group of listeners.

F M,
Several years ago the same thing happened to KLIF. The bean counters came in and decided to take the number one talk radio station in this market and change the format.

KLIF went down the tubes and has not been heard of since.

Good morning Mr. Spittle,

I sure do miss my Saturday morning Brian Hughes Texas Fishing Show and sure do wish you'd bring it back. Gotta have the Saturday show, that's when I'm headed to the lake. I'm a member of several large fishing groups here in the metroplex including the Texas Fishing Forum that is 30K strong of your desireable demographic.

I will also let your advertisers that I do business with know of my displeasure with your decision and let them know that it is the reason I will no longer do business with them.

Just got off the phone with Mr. Spittles office. Of course all I got was his answering machine but I left him a very polite yet concerned message regarding the removal of the Texas Fishing and Outdoors Show on Sat. mornings. I will also do a little emailing, not only to his office but to his advertisers. Keep it up forum members.

I just talked to Gavin and he told me there weren't enough sponsers to support the show. All I could tell him was that if I can find it elsewhere, I will and he lost me as a listner at a time I really counted on. There are always 2 sides to evey story and the only way I see it coming back would be for a big sponsor to step up and support the show. I will catch it on KMOO 99.9 on the way to Fork this Saturday...

I dunno of too many fishermen who do not listen to this show from time to time during their repective drives to water...So unfortunate that this is happening, but I guess it doesn't seem to receive as much support as someone talking about whatver else instead of Texas and her waters. Anyways, if you have the time, please call...whether or not it is effective is not the true concern, but voicing your opinion, counting yours as one dissent for this change is what is important. Let them know that you do not enjoy their decision...

Once again, the program director is Gavin Spittle 214-525-7000...

KMOO 99.5 sounds good to me. Keep those calls and emails going though.

Can't really pick up KMOO in most parts of the metroplex. (It is 99.9 btw) We really need this on KRLD. Keep calling an emailing.

You're right. Just tried to pick it up myself and it's another station here. Keep calling and emailing.

THANKS FM for bring this to our attention.

I just spoke w/ Lindy Roberts on the phone and he said that the latest word is that this is "permenant until at least October" Lindy ask that we all get on the phone or email and let Gavin & KRLD know we are not happy about this. Also ask your friends to call also.

All of us together can make a difference if we voice our opinion!

Email sent.

Mr. Spittle,

I want to voice my displeasure with your decision to discontinue a live fishing show for a taped show. We fishermen depend on Brian's show to give us up to the minute information on our lakes in the Metroplex area as well as lakes we are in route to on Saturday mornings. The Sunday hour is informative but the Saturday two hour show is crucial.
I have been a loyal listener To KRLD and The Texas Fishing and Outdoors program sense the late 90's. It just seems that a live program that has been on the air for as long as Brian's and has so many listeners through out Texas would receive higher respect from the program director than a taped program that could be aired at another time.
Thank you for reading this email and I hope you will consider rescinding your decision.
