For those who are over extended and living on credit there will be boats for sale. For those who have their finances in order there will be no real trouble and the boats will still be used as normal.

I think its great when someone has there home paid for and buys wwhat they want, The right to pursue happyness is as different as people them selves.

i have noticed more boats in the classifieds of my local paper this year, especially the higher end bass boats with money still owed, so might be something to it!

What im curious about is the guys with the $300.00 clunker cars with the $1000.00 rims and the $3000.00 stereos!! Now thats re-DAM-diculous!!!

Drug money purchases arent affected but high costs of fuel or a sinking ecconomy they just steal more stuff and sell more dope to by rims or trade for them. Iam sure you know how it works.

I don't understand the rims deal....I passed a guy last night who's car was running so badly he could not go the speed limit...black smoke coming out the tailpipe...but he sure was lookin good with them 35" wheels...did'nt look like he had a care in the world other than his chrome was shine'n....and I'm sure his inspection sticker was current also....yeah right

I suspect there will be lots of boats for sale. Those with larger boats will be moving to smaller and lighter boats. So the demand for used small to medium boats may keep prices at about current. While the pricing on larger bass, pontoon, pleasure craft will drop to meet demand. I see lots of used boats for sale so I think it had already started and once summer is over this fall will be prime buying opportunity if economy remains stagnate and fuel prices continue to rise.

My wife and I started looking to upgrade from our 18ft to a 21ft. I thought long and hard, because its not everyday your wife tells you to go find a new boat. The more I thought about a new boat sitting in the garage due to 6.00 dollar fuel took all of the fun out of it, so I am sticking with the old one for awhile. I wished I lived around a lot of water close, but out here in West Texas, the closest water I have is an hour and a half away.

I think most people are still holding on to their stuff pretty well. As in the market is not flooded yet. But if gas keeps climbing, say over $5 there should definitely be a flood after that.

Or pleasure craft will just sit in the drive way allot more.

Just like Kevin my wife is cool with me buying a new boat. I have a 18 ft. Champion that is paid for. I've been really lookin around but because of the gas deal it just isn't fun. I'm holding my cards untill fall and see what happens in the new and used market.

I know big twin screwed baja and the like have some tremendous buys in today's market. So the bass boat market will have to follow. But for those of us who dont have to make payments and believe in our trolling motors. Fishing will move forward. Fortunatly in the DFW area there are many lakes within 50 miles.
Plus don't forget this is legal addiction and the crutch that put's many of us through to the next week.
So I think the Bass boat market will maintain. There is always going to be repo bargains and people wanting out from under a payment. That's been going on forever. Those that are responsible will keep the boat and maybe fish less. (but not much less)

I just fish slower and use the trolling motor more
so far i've been out 3 times and only used 1/2 of 1 tank
still got a tank and a half and have been catchin more fish
caught 3 at the boat ramp monday
