With $4-$5 a gallon gas this summer I am thinking there will be a huge number of boats up for sale this year. Maybe set some kind of record....what do ya'll think?

What is re-dam-diculous is to drive by and see a new boat, new truck totaling$100,000.00 sitting infront of a run down single wide trailer. What are you folks thinking? Incredible.

1lipripper - what I think is that it is none of our business what home a person chooses to live in and what toys he chooses to buy.

Re-dam-diculous post. How many $100,000 boat and truck combo's have you seen in front of a run down single wide? Unless it was someones lake cabin, I would say none. People spend their money in strange ways. It is up to them.

I would think that not only the rising price of gas, but the rising price of everything right now. I don't have any stats, so it would be pure speculation, but there are a lot of folks reeling right now from the housing industry as well, so it's plausible that things like pleasure craft may go first.

I know if I was on hard times and had a family to feed, the boat would go before the kids went hungry.

Just plain economics. Necessities first and everything else after that. I for one believe that we may see a big drop in sales of boats, RV's, etc. because high priced fuel seems to be here from now on.

I don't think too many people are concerned how others spend their money. It's how they spend others money (welfare, assistance programs) that rubs people the wrong way. I never have understood how you can be at a Casino and still get a government check. They should check the winners SS# and cut off any welfare to them. I could care less who goes there until our tax dollars support them.

Good Question! I think there will be a few more boats on the market just like more large diesel trucks, RV's and travel trailers. I think the boat dealerships will feel the pinch first. That means more people will be buying used boats. So good deals won't last long.
