go to a golf store and get a woven straw golf hat. They give good coverage, are lightweight, cool, and most have an elastic brim which helps when the wind is blowing. Price is usually good as well.

Columbia hats are hard to beat I just wish they could find a way to make the brim a little more rigid.

The problem I have run into with most of the wide brim style or with the neck protection is that they are all quick drying. I would like to find one that actully holds the water as long as possible to help keep cool.

This is serious business, I watched my Dad have a third nostril cut trying to get some cancer rot out of his skin before it spread. I have several hats and long sleeve fishing shirts, as I am trying to learn from his lessons. I found a camo booney with a 4" brim at the surplus store on 75 and beltline. I also have a tan one with a 2" brim. It is really not enough. My favorite is a palm leaf made by resistol. I got it at Tractor supply, I think it is a George Straight style, but not sure. The tilley's are the standard adventure hats, with a good reputation and lore. If the resistol had a dark color under the brim it would be perfect, but look silly.

Also go get some of those neckerchief things that you soak in cold water and they swell up. They last a good while and keeps your neck cool. You wouldn't believe how cool they make your whole body feel when ya slap one of those cold suckers on. Keep 2-3 in the ice chest and change em out and STAY cool.
