Reeled in a trash fish, (a "sucker", by northern terms) while bank fishing a reservoir in Idaho. Hooked it in the mouth, even. The "strange" part of the story is that it was already dead and gutted*.
Aside from that, I haven't really caught anything strange. Pulled in an old Zebco reel and more than my fair share of turtles, but that seems to be pretty common.
*When you catch a sucker fish up there, it's common practice to immediately gut it and throw it back.

Fishing some docks in Ft Walton Beach, hooked something large. I could barely move it and I'm thinking some huge bull red or speck... got it to the edge... a freaking horseshoe crab. Bigger than a dinner plate and heavy as can be. Not the easiest things to remove trebles out of either. I should have mounted it.

Fishing pole with a 19# catfish on it. I was fishing with my friend and he turned around to "take advantage of a tree" and the next thing we knew his setup shot in to the water like a bullet. I put on a deep diving rapala and came up with some of his line which was still attached to the pole & fish.

Mine happened on Tuesday on Ray Hubbard. I caught a female mallard in mid flight. I didn't even catch her on my top-water lure. She flew into the line. It took a second to register that the reason my pole was screaming and heading toward the middle of the lake was a duck. She finally broke off. At least the lure was hanging behind her, I assume it fell off as soon as the line went slack.

Cast out some dough bait at Canyon and when I checked it a while later had a freshwater clam on it, treble hook inside it's shell. Heavy but not much fight to it.

Strangest for me was hooking a bass through the "nose". Hook wasn't even in its mouth. But the strangest I've seen is a catfish my father caught. When he reeled it in, his hook was through the loop of someone else's leader hanging out of the cat's mouth.

clams, bats, turtles, snakes, rods, reels, a frisbee, a sea lion, a pelican, numerous alum. cans, an outboard cowl, a tire, a wheel, part of a broke-in half depthfinder(guess He was having a rough day..). I actually caught, and damn near landed part of Blue Mtn lake's dam, took an hour & a half for a 30+ pound granite boulder. That was the day I got sold on superbraid good stories, keep 'em comin! B

Coleto Creek- Zebco 808, good condiction, used it for 5 years.
Choke Canyon- up from 99 bridge, snagged a 12 gauge pump shotgun with a jugline in 2004. Duck hunters, I guess, lost it.
Twin 8lb 10oz Green Trash Fish- Choke Canyon
