For me it was a snapping turtle about 30lbs worth of mean old turtle. But get this I never really "hooked" him. Me and my son were screwing around fishing the creek that runs through Cravens Park in Arlington. I was messing with a bass with one rod left the second in a "Y" stick with some Danny Kings just down the bank.
I looked over and then line was way out. Went to pull it in and thought it got snagged. I did the pull strait back thing to snap it but it started moving. Figured I was dragging a log, next thing I know I am staring at a mad and angry snapper that has clamped down on a pretty damn big yellow bullhead.
He just refused to let go! Had the cat mid body but did not break the skin just held on. I drug the turtle a few feet onto the bank and eventually he let go, hissed at me, snapped at the fish, gave up and headed for the water.
The cat was still alive! I took pity on him and let him go in the pond at cravens rather then putting him back in the creek with the monster.
It is really amazing what lives in the little creeks that run through our cities and towns,

It was a squirrel. I was a stupid kid. I am not proud of it now. They were biting on bread that day.

Docks, boats, partners and my mom. Boats used to slip their moorings on Lake MArtin Alabama and I'd tow them in with whatever I had, a zebco 33 was one such device. P.M. If you catch an egret watch out for that beak, could easily take your eye out! Right Capa?

My buddy once snagged what he thought was a "huge lunker" (his words). He fought it and fought it and what surfaced was an old Remington 870 with all kinds of mud and [censored] on it. He cleaned it real thoroughly and a couple new parts and now it rides on the front of his atv on his lease "just in case".
Biggest thing I've ever hooked, my dad, my grandfather, my dog... she likes to chase the lures when I cast. Learned that once and I won't take her again since. She is a lab and will try to grab any fish you catch too, gotta yank it past her when pulling them out of the water.

I had a good friend once who was fishing in a tarpon tournament in Florida. He cast up underneath a mangrove tree and snagged on something big...Took quite some time to real it in....Then they called the sheriff....It was a dead body...True Story......

Biggest was a gator when I lived in florida. Ummmm I would be lieing to you if I told you how big it was. All I know is when I got it close enough to see I through down the pole and ran the opposite direction. I went back to fish that pond or slough about a month later and another gator chased me while hissing. This past summer I fishing in Port A the porpois had a good time playing with me and taking my bait and nearly spooling me before letting go Next biggest was probably prehistoric looking snapper turtles bank fishing as kid up at Texoma. That turtle was huge. And I have caught numerous water turkeys, pelicans, ducks, geese and numerous snakes.

A very good friend of mine went to the Rio Negro in Brazil Peacock Bass fishing. They caught a monkey. Thought it was all fun and games till that little monkey got to the boat. Nothing like a hacked off primate with a pencil popper in it's hand to get your attention. LOL

190 lb rottmix dog. He hit a black jitter bug in the front yard... Fought like SOB. Had a heck of a time removing the trebel hooks from his cheeks. Last time time he did that though... last time I threw a jitter bug in the front yard. I though Dad was gonna whip my butt.

Caught a bull bat once. Lot's of turtles. A beaver. Didn't catch it with a hook, but one time we saw what we thought was a dog swimming across the lake. Took the boat over and it turned out to be a yearling buck. We loaded him up and took him to the shore and he hauled arse.
