When I was a kid (a very long time ago) my Dad and I were fishing in Flordia. I made my longest cast ever and a pelican intercepted it. My Dad insisted I reel it in so we could remove the hook. The closer the pelican got the BIGGER and MADDER it got!! We cut it loose when it started attacking us and pooping all over the place. One of those "I'll never forget the time..." moments.

Let's see.. Hooked a sea lion on a 1/2 day trip out of long beach, Ca. when i was a kid. lasted about 10 seconds.

Eagle mountain lake..Tiny torpedo threw up by the bank at night heard a splash and the fight was on...Giant racoon Got it right up to the boat and then that p@@@@@ of thing wanted to get in the boat....My buddys cut the line...I wanted it in the boat just to see how long before we all got out...

A beaver. No kidding. The beaver came right up next to my boat and slapped it's tail on the water. I waited a minute to cast because I didn't know if he was gonna come back or what. As soon as I casted a topwater Smithwic rough with 3 trebel hooks, up popped this beaver and it landed on top of his back. I didn't set the hook, he just turned and ran. MY ROD BENT IN HALF!! Stripping line like crazy. He almost spooled me before I could turn him, then about halfway back to the boat I had to cut the line because I couldn't see him. I was shaking. Wasn't gonna let him get close.
True story.

Not only a beaver but a 4ft alligator hit a top water jitterbug.I cut the line on both.

My sons line looped around a sea gulls leg casting below the dam at texoma and yhat was one mad and biting bird.

I was fishing a media bass tourney at tawakoni. Saw my line move and set the hook, i snagged, under the side of its shell, the biggest soft shell turtle I ever have seen. got it to the top of the water and it hissed at me.

I let the turtle keep that hook.

the funnest non fish fight i have had was while fishing for stripers on texoma threw a 1.5oz slab out and right before it hit a loom came up was hooked in the back that was one of the toughtes birds i have ever fought, unitl it finally broke 50lb braid.

This is a great topic. I hooked a seagull one time throwing topdogs for specks. The seagull would dive at it about every 3-5 minutes. Everytime I would jerk it hard right before he got there and pull it away. I mistimed it one time. Hung him in his knee. I was fighting a kite for aobut 5 minutes. He hollered for backup and I had about 30 pissed off seagulls dive bombing me. We got him landed and he bit the piss out of my stepdad about 3 times. We cut the barded end off the treble, pulled the hook out and released him we laughed for 3 months about that story. It was funny up until his reinforcements started showing up.

Oh yeah that question about catching ducks. It has to do with migratory game bird laws not peta.
