 what's the largest animal other than a fish you've ever reeled in?

I've caught (hung anyway) some big turtles, accidentally snagged a couple birds, but my best is a 10 ft. gator...

I was teaching my daughter how to use a baitcaster. Our 50lb dog grabbed the casting plug & the fight was on. He had no intentions of letting go. I had to pry his mouth open to get it out. About once a week my daughters ask me to do it again because it was so funny.

I like putting a squeeking mouse on a fishing pole and watching our cats chase it around.
She's old and fat now, but our russian blue used to chase it until she was out of breath. She's then just lay on her back and half heartedly swat at it as it passed by.

Thinking about this the list gets pretty interesting...
Blue Heron - dove on a pop-r - he had a piece of rope stuck on his beak and the hooks got stuck - released unharmed (no wounds on me either)
Alligator 2ft - Hit a frog on Sam Rayburn....
Snapping turtle - about 15lbs scary.......
Bull Frog - 2lbs

friend of my dad once caught a big-ace snake on a dd-22...the thing actually struck at it!

This raises a question I wonder about. Why is it OK to catch fish with hooks but why not ducks? Heck your gonna eat them anyway, and they are both animals, but one method would be considered cruel and another normal? I'm by no means a PETA person, but just being devil's advocate here.

Caiman - Mean little sucker. Caught in the Panama Canal
Moray eel - Can't remember which side of the canal. It was huge and freaked every one out.

Got my bait and hook eaten byh a pelican once at Port Aransas. Had about 150 yards of line out and I fought the bird while it was flying and reeled it in. Then one of the other fishermen put a towel over it's head while we got the hook out. Didn't take him long to be airborne again either!!!

Have a friend who was fishing Fairfield one day when a bunch of feral pigs came out of the brush and started walking down the bank. He throws his lure up on the bank, hooking one and hollers out, you guessed it,
'GET THE NET, I GOT A HAWG'

While living in FL, I brought a 250 (guess weight) pound sea turtle to the boat while off Ft. Pierce while trolling for kingfish.
And I had a pelican dive down and grab my Mirrorlure while trolling for speckled trout at Cape Canaveral.
Not to mention a small (2 foot) alligator on a popping bug flyrodding on the Turnpike just above Ft. Pierce.

Loggerhead. Hooked in the throat. About 30-40 lbs just guessing
