baked, broiled or fried but not raw.
Was fishing over in West Calcasieu some decades back and wading a marsh lake fishing the mouths ditches and drains for flounder and the coonass I was fishing with stops, tucks his rod under his arm and reaches down and pulls up a clump of oysters. He proceeded to take his knife, pop one open and pour it into his mouth. He lived and lived well afterwards.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it !

I love them. My dad wouldn't eat them, said they were so slimy he had to cross his legs to keep them from sliding right on through

My favorite ones come from Japan area. They are larger and meatier. Called Kumo or Kumamoto. They make excellent shooters with sake.

Made a bet with my uncle when I was a kid at a restaurant to eat one he didn’t say anything about how or hot sauce or anything . I slurped it back and started to chew and gag at the same time had the whole table rolling finally got it down and got my 20bucks never touched them since . The experience was terrible

Grilled oysters are great. Drago's in New Orleans chargrilled oysters are the most addicting food I've ever eaten. Never tried Drago's, but I can verify that Oceana in the Quarter has the best oysters I have ever eaten.

Grilled/charbroiled is so good, I'll also eat the smoked oysters in a can on crackers.

Raw halfshell on cracker with red sauce and horseradish. I could eat a couple of dozen if they weren't so expensive

Raw gulf are the best to me. I’ve had other varieties on the East and West coast. Ok but not as good.
Saltine cracker, cocktail sauce and horse radish right to the point where it cleans out your nostrils.
Why anyone would cook them IDK.
I will eat fried and grilled but always wonder why they go to all the work when they are best raw.
Gilhooley’s in San Leon used to be a great dive to eat them at. I haven’t been there in way too long.

Heb in Cleburne sell Jerry's Live Oysters . The oldest oyster place on the coast around Galveston I believe . We have never got a bad one either; They sell them 9 to a bag . You have to call ahead and they will keep them for you .
