We get them straight from the boat here. $40 a sack. Sort of a pain shucking that many but the results are outstanding.
Whatever opinion you had, can probably change it.

No one in our family will even try them with me. I finally bought some at our HEB to fry just for me. I battered them with corneal just like I do any other fish I fry. They were good, but not something I would say WOW about. I actually ate all of them with cocktail sauce. I`m pretty sure I wouldn`t like the raw Oysters just because of the texture. Doubt I will fry anymore Oysters when there are other fish and shrimp that I love to eat.

Charbroiled oysters like Dragos will make a believer out of the anti-oyster crowd. It’s like a whole nuther dish.

My folks spent winters on the coast for a couple of years after retirement. On one of the trips home , they stopped at our place in Tyler.
He caught several pounds of shrimp with his cast net on the morning they left the coast, and bought a bag of Oysters. It was a 2 day all you can eat seafood feast at our house. smile

Eaten them raw but they do nothing for me. Fried they are pretty good (but what isn't when it's fried??).

Love em raw - on a cracker with some sauce and horse radish.

Was raised to never eat any during any month that did not have an “r” in it. Was a bad result ignoring that rule.

Mothers in New Orleans has an OUTSTANDING oyster Po-Boy.

Fat Jacks in Texarkana has several different versions on their menu - very tasty.

^^^yes, last good month for Oysters is now…..then I’d wait until October. (Water temps in the gulf have been staying warm through September recently)

It was probably rough to be the official food taster considering the things humans eat.
