Good day… nice weather, and just enough breeze.. Caught 11, busted one off and lost a few…. all but one on swimbait, one on 10 inch worm.. Steady bite all afternoon..

I am a believer... was fishing spillway behind Palestine last week... folks all around not catching.. grandpa and 3 kids were not having any luck and two smallest kids were no longer interested in fishing.. they were in my spot... lines all stuck in rocks, rods unattended... they were just chunking rocks at that point.. grandpa breaks their lines and moves them further down the bank... I make my way to where they had just left and catch three in about 5 minutes.

Give grandpa a few rigs and he is on them too... he would hook fish and give rods to kids to reel in... they were damn near fighting each other to see who got to reel them in..







I think every kid should start out throwing a 5 inch swimbait on a 5/0 Owner Flashy Swimmer with Ignite Baits 5 Frenzy Shad in Game 0ver color.. seriously! they rarely get hung up, they will catch even smaller bass, and they will get slammed by bigger fish as well..

I always try to help out young people too. Especially during the white bass run. The excitement they get just to reel in a white bass on a fly rod or just learning to roll cast is very rewarding. I could sell a truck load of fly rods every year during the run

Just to watch a kids whole change in attitude from bored to excitement after catching one fish...

Anyone catching hybrids in the River ? I used to fish that spot back when I cared about catching hybrids. They will tear up a redfin crawled across the
surface , early and late. Are the mosquitoes out yet ?

I dont know if its over or if its even begun... stopped by there last week for a few hours and caught a couple of small bass and one hybrid.. the place has changed ... I havent fished it in years and my old spots were washed out/silted in... unproductive.. explored some new areas.. water still really messed up and not much life other than gar.

Wasn’t near as good for me the same day. Caught a few but nothing like in past trips. Guessing the rain and storms had them messed up. Surprised I didn’t see many beds, seen a couple with small males but they had no interest in anything I threw at them. Was good to get back there though.
