6mm arc, bench rest or meat haul I’m looking at that one as well. The price of ammo seems kind of high though.

I’ve been toying w a Remington 700 in 223 I bought from a member on the TFF. Think I have it pretty much figured out. Added a Timney trigger and a 8-40X scope.

Here is my go to load on paper. 5 rounds @ 100 yds. Reloading is a must. Rifle was shooting a little over 1 MOA at best until I started loading for it and worked up a good round.

The 223 isn’t a first choice round for snipers for sure If you want the AR platform get the 308/762x51 model for longer range 223 just isn’t a good long range rifle IMO

223 is fun to reload and inexpensive. I went thru 3 brands of powder and 6 different bullets before I was happy. The key is to buy some good quality brass. I prefer the Lapua brass. Good luck!

Thanks, fun to play with on the cheap. I have it up here in ND and it is deadly on the prairie dogs out to 300 yds with those handloads.

Shooting prairie dogs is a social event for these guys up here. It is a blast, and helps out the farmers as well.

You could definitely get into it for $500 or less, especially if you hit facebook marketplace or craigslist, etc. I run a single stage RCBS Rock Chucker press for all my rifle rounds. Old school manual scale. Very basic equipment. I have the press mounted to a stand I move into the living room to reload then throw back into the garage when I don't need it.
