Actually it's seagull poo. That extra hit of seafood makes all the difference.
If you've never cooked shrimp tonight that were swimming this morning, you've never had it as good as it gets.
Was cast netting near Hackberry, La and a coonass that was also cast netting picked up some sticks and driftwood, started a fire and emptied some bottled water into a small aluminum beat up pot that he put over the fire, stepped out and made a cast pulling in a dozen and a half shrimp in, headed them and dropped 'em into the water that was already starting to boil. 5 minutes later he sitting on his haunches eating the freshest shrimp you can have. The good life !

Gravy maker has told me to go fishing. She wants flounder, and by gosh flounder she'll get. She somehow got the Opelousas sauce recipe from papadeaux's. Only she makes it better. And what makes it outstanding is adding 12/18 count fresh shrimp to the mixture. Oh my, you'll hurt yourself. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.ibb.co/7kfHTXs/fish-plate-ponchatrain.jpg)

anyone ever fish for snook or tarpon during the shrimp run... unbelievable ... once counted the number of fish that popped a shrimp off the surface in a one minute span... 70 times... hillsboro inlet while fishing off the bridge late one night 25 years ago.. here is a video of what a shrimp run looks like from a boat.. but its done with much longer nets from piers as well as they drop lanterns just above the surface.. sometimes you could see thousands on the surface in the right conditions.. many fishermen would fish for snook at this time of year for catch and release as snook season is usually closed when the shrimp are running in the winter months. When the shrimp started jumping out of the water, there would be a fish coming up under them and thats where you would cast.

I'll be eating some beautiful fried and butterflied shrimp tomorrow evening at the Flying Fish in Arlington.
I do like their food! I went a few months ago...need to go back soon! If you haven't signed up for their Flying Fish Grub Club, do it online tonight before you go. You get a coupon emailed to you every month for a buy one entree and get one free...with the purchase of two drinks. I think one of the entrees has to be less than $14, but still not a bad deal!

Dined on these yesterday in Essex, CT. Not sure if they were de-veined or not but they were certainly de-licious with that horseradish cocktail sauce. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2024/10/full-47350-244976-img_0634.jpeg)

Easy enough to see the digout along their spine or dorsal area.

What are shrimp mating habits? Mating occurs with the male at a right angle to the female, transferring a spermatophore to a specialized receptacle on the female's abdomen. Six to 20 hours after mating, the female begins to produce a large quantity of eggs, which she carries under her abdomen.

I with a guide on an evening trip for Tarpon at Bahai Honda State park back in the 80's. We did not get bit and at the end of the trip ( 11pm) we left the bridges and headed out to the mouth of the bay. Tarpon were blowing up everywhere, We brought two to the boat in a short time, wild seeing tarpon blowing up like sand bass . Mo
