I get irritated when my business gets a bad google review and I don't even know who the hell they are! I have a few 1 star reviews and didn't know any of them except for one. Google really doesn't even let you dispute them that I know of. If anyone knows how to get rid of the reviews that aren't even about us I'd love to know If you're the Google-verified business owner, you can respond to a review and your response will be below what they wrote. So you could do that and say it was another business they were talking about. If someone is reading reviews, they'll definitely read your response on a bad review. I leave reviews occasionally, mostly to warn people of unexpected things. I dealt with a junk yard that had extremely confusing procedures, so I left a review to try to let people know what to expect. Also had a cashier at a store try to keep my gift card that still had money on it once, and I certainly left that in a review. And I'm sure that was on purpose because someone else had left a review saying the same thing just a week before. I've only left one restaurant review I think, but it was the same kind of deal. It had gotten very popular because of some magazine write-up (that they probably paid for), and my cousin wanted to go. It wasn't anything like what I was expecting and certainly wasn't good enough to be popular. Oh yeah I’m google verified and all that. I have replied to the messages. I’m just upset that my rating is lower than not should be and hurts on rankings and what not for google searches

I do look at reviews on such as replacement parts. Looked at some reviews on places we eat at that I know are really good always. I have come to the conclusion that a 3.5 rating is a 5.0 rating.

Actually once I became verified I was able to send in a dispute but only from a menu of reasons and no way to explain the actual circumstances. It doesn’t seem really fair to not be able to dispute ridiculous reviews. Then again google literally has a monopoly so they don’t really give a [censored]

Mom and pops love to pump their own reviews up and bash their neighbors it's a thing YELP has been doing that for years. I'll just eat somewhere and then decide if I'm going back.

Never left one and don’t look at them- Same here. And I will tell my wife to keep her pie hole shut. If she doesn’t like a restaurant, I just won’t take her there again. I speak with my wallet. Dittos! If it's good, we'll go back. If they suck then it's AMF! and we don't go back. Don't care if it was an off day for the cook or their normal. But, it has to be pretty bad for me to get to that point.

I will look at TripAdvisor before I look at Google. I have found some really good Mom and Pop places over the years thanks to TripAdvisor.

I do find it interesting when college kids don't want to sign up for a class because the professor has a bad rating on RateMyProfessors. Most of those are just left by lazy kids that didn't want to do the work but still expected an A.

Well yelp is a bit different, of you pay for their program you can get your reviews to look however you want them. It's a great program. You give them your cc number and they charge you for however many times they say they recommend your business...... it can get pricey quick
