belly meat, mmm mmm good. What did you catch it on? usually they will only take live bait. I've caught channels and blues on artificials but never a yellow cat Just this past Saturday, I watched a buddy catch a big yellow on a jerk bait using livescope. Haha. True story.

Flat Head... They'll thump a jig and slowly ease off, set the hook and for a few seconds you'll be convinced you've got the state record... Then they go into the barrel rolling and it's oh chit... Can I please have my jig back... Dan That was me in a club tournament last month. Cranking a DD22 and though I had a double digit. Actually I did but wrong species. Sucker had the whole crankbait, bill and all in its mouth.

Can I please have my jig back... Dan I had that happen to me on Stillhouse. Flipping brush in prespawn. Started a slow swim off, I set the hook and it took off for the creek channel peeling off drag. I thought it was a DD for sure and my partner was jumping for the net. Then is stopped and started rolling......nothing crushes dreams quicker than a catfish roll! It was a DD just the wrong species. Nice flathead though, probably went for 15-16 pounds.
