That was me in a club tournament last month. Cranking a DD22 and though I had a double digit. Actually I did but wrong species. Sucker had the whole crankbait, bill and all in its mouth.

I had that happen to me on Stillhouse. Flipping brush in prespawn. Started a slow swim off, I set the hook and it took off for the creek channel peeling off drag. I thought it was a DD for sure and my partner was jumping for the net. Then is stopped and started rolling......nothing crushes dreams quicker than a catfish roll!
It was a DD just the wrong species. Nice flathead though, probably went for 15-16 pounds.
