Just do some experimenting for yourself and see what length works best. That's what I do quite a bit with all kinds of stuff to see what works best for bass fishing. I have been doing that for years now to determine what works best for me or what I like best and mainly what the fish like best.

I’ll kick it off, I think it doesn’t matter much if you are fishing vertical.

If you are casting out aways, I think a longer length (24-30”) 61-76 cm, is better because it still keeps your bait up off the bottom at that angle

How far off the bottom will it be at that angle? What angle will it be at?

I mean I’m not trying to apply trigonometry to this. Did you happen to watch the video, I think everyone would find it valuable before talking about this topic.

It varies on the conditions.

Most times I'm using 4-6" leader.

Those are very specific lengths, ok, I’ll try that.

Hint: measure with a micrometer, mark it with chalk, cut with an axe

Usually about 13" or so I think. Maybe 14". That seems to work the best for me when I dropshot. Hardly an expert though. With the shorter tag length such as 10" or 11" I seem to pick up or move the weight too much instead of just lifting the worm up and that's when I get most of my bites. On that initial lift with the weight still staying in place. I cast most of the time to points or whatever structure or cover I can see as opposed to fishing vertical.
