I’m not sure why Bassmast-her bothers people... Because pushing any gender, race or minority should bother everyone... What's next articles on why Oriental women aren't represented???... Dan They aren't pushing anything on anyone. Highlighting women in fishing is not the same as the issues you are trying to equate this too. Not a single white male is going to be harmed by BASS looking to expand its customer base and target an under-represented demographic. They aren't handing out invitations to the Elites or giving automatic checks to women competitors. You're literally upset that a magazine is writing articles representing the increase of women in the sport. There are more and more girls fishing the high school and youth series and they are allowed to have females they want to emulate. I still read BASS and I can tell you there are a lot of articles referencing men or quoting men who are average at best in fishing. No one says a word... But you know what there isn't, articles mandating women take a place in the sport they haven't earned. Thats all in your head.

Male or Female, i really think overall the professional fishing industry is in real trouble. With the way times are people can't afford to fish for other peoples entry fees. This goes all the way down to amateur level which I have noticed a drop off in Champs, Texas Team Trail, etc. Especially in East Texas where on Toledo/Rayburn you have 1 of 12 teams competing for the win and the rest competing for 13th. I'm not saying they aren't deserving because these guys are hammers. however the average guy can't be on the water practicing do to to work schedule, etc. there are guys on Toledo and Rayburn right now that could compete at the highest level in professional bass fishing but will not make the move because they can make up to 3 times as much sleeping in their own bed at night than 60 Plus % of elite guys on a weekend basis.

There is a lot of truth to this, there is a generation of guys that are tired as well (tired in general not tired of fishing or losing) and the drive to compete is diminished. As for the woman stuff , it is some what forced but understandable and some can and will compete unlike the current crop of terrible woman race car drivers being shoe horned into notoriety for gender regardless of talent. (A whole nother thread subject)

It won't happen, if money or air time is involved you will have Men dressing up like Women fishing, just like you do in every other sport.. You have to admit it to yourselves the libtards have won... Points to Ponder from Dash.

It's called DEI and it cost me a 17 year career.
When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip! #Brockstarama

The program is just a stupid publicity stunt. This program will change nothing. What will start changing things is that there are more girls involved at the youth and high school level now. So it will eventually make it's way to the higher levels. I think we will see a female fish at the highest level within the next 10-15 years. With all that said, it's still a numbers game. The number of men involved in competitive fishing is WAY higher than women. I mean there are 150+ anglers that are supposed to fish the Opens EQ tournaments this year, and I don't think there is a single woman that is fishing all the tournaments.

I've felt like if they would just stop differentiating thefact that they are women so much and just welcome them into the mix and make them a normal part of things they would have a better buy in. Constantly pointing out how diff someone is while pushing them to fit in and be the "same" as everyone else seems contradicting in practice.

Personally I could care less what they look like. Nothing is stopping any women from signing up, participating, and weighing the heaviest sack of fish. I could care less if women are promoting fishing through sponsorships they attain for any reason, or influencing they do through social media, we all have a choice who we pay attention to. Most of the fisherman I actually learn from, don’t even fish on a tour. It’s too bad some of you choose to not watch YouTube, there are some that are great to learn from. Drama has leaked in to pro fishing, in really petty ways, and it’s not going to make pro fishing better off

You guys are missing the plot. Bassmast-her is an instructional initiative aimed to get more women into the sport. This is for young ladies, led by women instructors. They are targeting that young girl who enjoys fishing but grows up thinking it's a man's world, so they move away from it as they age. Have you noticed how many 6–12-year-old girls enjoy fishing but how few 13+ stick with it? Could it be the creep factor of older men leering at them or possibly their misogynistic views?
99% of the men on TFF wouldn't take lessons from a female on just about anything. Most wouldn't attempt to pick up a hobby or sport that is 100% female. And none of you have a female idol that you emulate. So why do these young ladies have to learn and be inspired by a Man? It's not the end of the world to give young ladies a female role model to learn and be inspired by. And that starts with promoting the ladies that are in the sport right now.
If they were holding spots on the Elite series for Trait Zaldain then I get the outrage. But they are simply promoting the sport to young ladies in a way that they hope is more successful than we've been in the past. If you don't like it, simply skip that tiny section on their website and in their magazine's. Majority of the website and magazines is still dedicated to regurgitating the same articles year after year. So, you should be ok.
Ridiculous thread.
