Something tells me the “lookers” aren’t trying to make a career as a pro bass fisherman. Why would they? So they can be around a bunch of overweight (for the most part) dudes ?

I don't think it'll happen in my lifetime... Unless one of the leagues fudges with the qualifying procedures... Dan

I don’t see fishing as a sport that should separate men and women. There’s no testosterone advantage to the art of bass fishing.

I think eventually some ladies will get to the upper levels of BASS and MLF and it may come sooner than later. The deal with young girls getting started in this to develop into a solid pro angler is they really didn't have an avenue like high school bass fishing to get them there. They were born and their mom usually steered them in the direction they wanted them to go, not their dad. My daughter is a great example of that. My wife introduced her to dance just before she turned three and she loved it so much she spent the rest years and even now doing it at the competition level; she's an adult and teaches and choregraphs it now as a hobby but is also a marketing director for a company here in NETX. If I'd had a boat when she was young and HS bass fishing had the pull it does now back then I'd say there is a possibility she'd be doing this and knocking heads with the best of them, she's that driven. She loves taking my boat out and a lot of times that is the only seed you need to get this started with a kid.

...or fishing/hunting in general.

The quarry does not care what level of hormone the individual on the other end of the line or discharging the firearm has.

Very few on the "Mens side" of pro fishing fund their dreams 100% via sponsorship.

The fishing 'industry' as a whole figured out that a woman holding a bass (or any fish - fresh or salt) in Ray Bans and a bikini top gets clicks....but doesn't sell product. Now they have females who are attractive, well spoken, educated, AND can skip a jig appealing to another level of audience. Unfortunately that audience is relatively small in comparison to other industries. In the end its business and if the bean counters spreadsheet shows red brackets something is getting cut - male, female, lifelong partner, etc.

I’m not sure why Bassmast-her bothers people. Are they supposed to keep writing about specific knots for certain lures (that we read 500 times) or how to fish a grass bed (that we read 1000 times). Or cover the same Anglers every single month? It’s rinse and repeat every year.

I have daughters and what I’ve noticed is if they see girls doing something they show much more interest in it. None of these women are taking money out of men’s pockets by being highlighted. And hopefully it leads to many more girls showing interest. Because none of the guys are getting it done.

Fishing is not a physical sport that requires a male body so the only reason that women aren’t in the pro ranks is because the low volume of women participating.

I noticed they didn't tone it down even on Father's Day.

I have 3 daughter so the enhanced coverage doesn't bother me but you would figure they would have eased up a bit on Sunday.
