I throw one on a spinning reel most of the time . But know several that use nothing but bait casting reels . Daiwa Tatula Elite baitcaster. Perfect for a light shaky head..

Never even thought of throwing it on a spinning rod.
Really? All the way down to an 1/8oz with a trick worm. Until my 8 year old grandson started fishing with me, I've never had a spinning rod in the boat. He's 9 now and is now throwing his own baitcaster but will still throw a wacky rig on his spinning rod. And yes, I also throw a drop shot on 20lb floro and never deeper than about 10'.

I use an Alphas lefty on 8 and 10 pound line for a shaky head but its normally 1/8 or 3/16s so its a light rig. My spinning reel is 12 pound braid with a 7-10' leader of light line.
The reel is not that important on a shaky head. I usually use Shimano.

Small ones on a Diawa Coastal SV TW 70. It's a sweet looking blue color. Only reason. BUT, rigged on my 7" Waterloo trout rod, it will throw a 1/4oz shaky head rattlesnake An absolute mile and skips like a flat rock. Basically what I use too-A Castaway Invicta 7’med/light “Trout rod” and a Daiwa Tatula CT, 12 lb fluorocarbon

When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip! #Brockstarama
