I throw one on a spinning reel most of the time . But know several that use nothing but bait casting reels .

I throw it on a NRX+ 853C but really any MH Fast or Heavy Fast with some 10lb line

I throw light ones on a spinning reel and heavier ones on a bait caster.

I have a full grip dobyns 742 that I really like for bigger shakey heads and a 200 sized baitcaster

I throw light ones on a NRX 852s with a Shimano Vanford 2500 and the heavy ones on a NRX 873 CRR with a Shimano Bantam

Small ones on a Diawa Coastal SV TW 70. It's a sweet looking blue color. Only reason. BUT, rigged on my 7" Waterloo trout rod, it will throw a 1/4oz shaky head rattlesnake An absolute mile and skips like a flat rock.

Chance tell me more about this Waterloo rod, I looked at their website, I’ve never heard of them.

I assume it’s an inshore rod and not a complete noodle for little stream trout?

All of the shaky head specific rod I’ve owned, or seen, were spinning rods.

Maybe some are talking “magnum shakey head” some of these guys drop shot with 20 pound test mono with a bait caster …

I throw a 3/8 oz head on a rod I use for tube jigs and small finesse jigs and slightly heavier 10-12 pound fluro. Instead of 6 or 8

Started throwing a shakey head about 18 years ago and have had a lot of success with it. I've never once thrown it on spinning gear.

Me neither. My shaky head spinning rod is for wacky rigs. I use a HeavyFast 7’ with a Steez CT SV and 12lb INVISX tie to a 1/4oz -3/8oz Owner shaky head hook. Zoom trick worm.
