Don't get me wrong; people are going to need guides on this lake, especially if they don't own a boat, but I don't think I'd actually call it guiding at least for a year or two. Right now, it's more like you buy my gas and pay me a fee; and gratuity if you like, and I'll haul you around the lake so you can catch some fish. I think what you just described is guiding. So, if you are doing that on Bois d arc today, tmrw, next week, next year, or 10 years from now, you’re guiding.

If I am hiring a guide I do so assuming they have some particular experience on the body of water, knowledge of "good spots" and where you can and can't run etc. right now, every swingin richard that hits the lake is a total rookie, no special nuthin due to lack of knowledge of the lake and patterns. 2 yrs. from now and someone with solid time on the lake can call themselves a guide. jmo

As for fishing spots, someone could easily fake it until they make it. Ride the new lake high until they figure it out for sure. A good local guide from Fork or another area lake could easily apply what he knows to bois d arc and be a good guide fairly quick. I would say within 2 weeks.

Shoot. I don’t know if anyone has ever seen an actually lighting strike and heard it up close, if you have, you’re in a safe place…
I was 45 steps away one day, saw a tree catch on fire, that’s a life changer, no more messing around in lighting storms for me.

This was on another lake BTW... I don’t get it? I missed the description - wow - that’s scary. I remember somewhere seeing a graphite rod that had been hit, it was a big ball of carbon filaments at the rod handle. Crazy

The modern definition of liability and the world we live in these days.
Back in the day, the judge would laugh at your electrocuted and burned face for going out in a thunderstorm. These days, settlement to avoid soft public scrutiny. Thus, the liability is shifted from the individual who chooses to risk going out in a storm to the people who manage the metal courtesy dock.
Yes, it’s ridiculous.

They are sure confident in that lake staying full (or empty ), docks that aren’t adjustable.

All by design…I don’t think they want tournaments and definitely not warm weather tournaments. Establish a pattern of the ramps being closed at three feet low, and tournament directors won’t schedule.
I have no doubt Collin County, Fannin, and Grayson will drain off this moderate flooding in a couple weeks.
