That reporter must have never lived in the area, and she is massively overstating the strategic importance of that bridge. It will absolutely be inconvenient for people who regularly use the bridge, but it was one of the least congested parts of the beltway. Hazmat can go around the slightly longer westside of the beltway to avoid the tunnels on 95/895. A few of the big roll off car lots are south so they’re not impacted, and other ports in VA and NY/NJ can easily handle the containers until the waterway is clear. This is no suez canal blockage.
