We are staying at the Circa on Fremont. We enjoyed just getting out and walking Fremont and people watching. The strip is cool for that as well.

It really does remind me a bit of Albuquerque and LA rolled up together.

Too crowded, smells like piss and pot, and getting impossible to get around with a traffic detour whether walking or driving.

I fly into Vegas, get on the shuttle to South Point Hotel and Casino, go in the door, and don't come out unless I'm there for Nascar. South Point has everything a person needs. Best poker room in Vegas, best entertainment, best food, and movie theater. One stop shop. No trash like the Strip.

I’ve stayed there a few times, yes way more subdued than a strip hotel

South Point even has the $5 steak and egg meal between 12 AM and 6 AM!

Vegas has always had a special place in my heart. I grew up going to Vegas in the 70's and 80's 2-3 times a year with my Dad. He drove a bus for Greyhound and his friends would always hire him to drive the charter bus to Vegas. So naturally I always got to tag along. The casinos always provided free rooms to the drivers and free meals. Our favorite was the 24oz steak at Circus Circus. Loved going to Circus Circus with my Dad because he could gamble and drink downstairs while I spent all his winnings on the kids games upstairs.

My Dad passed away 2 years ago and I had the opportunity to sprinkle some of his ashes below the Circus Circus sign. Then I went inside and played his favorite slot machine on the carousel.

I still go, but not as often with my wife. Not the same. We get free rooms at the Flamingo. Rooms aren't that good, but you can't beat the location.

It’s been a few years- are they still flipping the fake women flyers in your face and shooting up heroin on Fremont?

This yr when I flew out to Vegas last minute to watch Riley run I booked a room at Circus Circus. Everybody has always said it was a dump but $120 a night vs $300-$400 a night at the other places I chose Circus. I was pleasantly surprised. Yes the rooms are old but they were clean. The food and beer wasn't outrageous. My only complaint is that there was no fridge in the room. They are doing a $50 million renovation as well. I would stay there again. All I need is a place to sleep .

We stayed at Circa which is still pretty new. Started being built in 2019 and finished in 2020 I think. It was a tad under $150 per night. Very nice rooms

Walked up and down Fremont a bunch day and night. Really wasn't bad at all. Never saw anyone shooting up, it was pretty clean and panhandlers/hawkers have to stay inside marked areas. The ones I interacted with a simple "no thanks" worked great. I expected itto be a lot worse. Did smell a lot of weed but that's OK. It's Vegas, it's not supposed to be Sunday school.

Mark I was out there during the NFR and to top it off the Raiders had a home game. They jacked the rooms prices up big time.

One thing Vegas does well is regulate the stuff like that around the strip and casinos. Go a block away and it is a different story though.

Glad we came. It's been fun. Once is enough for me though.

What all did you do while you were there?
