Is there a reason why tpwd stopped stocking these lakes with Florida strain bass? Welsh shows 1976 and Martin 1990 as the last time they stocked these lakes with Florida strain bass .

I have not fished Martin but Welsh seems to have a bunch of bass. Maybe not need to restock it.

I am pretty sure that Texas LMB stocking is done on a "money talks basis".

I like a mixture. Northern/native bass are less finicky and easier to catch. I also like to have a decent spot population for the same reason. Not everyone is going out looking for one or two big bites. Some people are happy just getting bites and catching fish.
