If you fish long enough you will hook something weird, unique or unusual. It can be animal, plant, or mineral. Here are a couple to start. Let’s see yours. Here is my wife’s 12” mantis shrimp she caught in Port Aransas. That is a big shrimp. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/12/full-107020-207939-146.jpeg) Here is a snake I caught on a fly in Colorado. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/12/full-107020-207940-img_3877.jpeg) The bottom fish is a unique colored hybrid tilapia. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/12/full-107020-207941-027_4.jpeg)

Seeing that mantis shrimp reminds me of the first time I ever saw one. This one was at South Padre Island. It had come up under the lights I was fishing from the condo pier. I always thought that they were only seen around coral in the deep tropics. Well done to your wife on that unusual catch.

Not terribly unusual, but here is a koi that I caught at Lake Arlington a few years ago. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/12/full-41433-208132-p1000496.jpg)

![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/12/full-470-208328-lionfish.png) I thought this was unusual at the time, did not realize how lion fish had taken over in South Florida. Caught this one off a deep wreck in Key West. MO
