Your spot on, on both those observations. Whether it will be regulated time will tell, I think the tournament organizations would prefer the state agencies to regulate first, I sure hope tpwd is doing some studies if it has any affect on the fisheries. Maybe TPWD should do a study on how spraying hydrilla kills fisheries. But it's "non-native" so it has to die according to TPWD. Never mind the fact that they've introduced non-native grass eating carp. Exactly.

Co angler participation has been an issue on many pro-am style tournaments for the last 10 years. In my area the BFL has done well with that. So prolly not just due to FFS.

When FFS first made the scene and had been out a while I was kind of in the camp of being against it but then I thought about it a while and realized I was forming that opinion based on someone else's opinion that had never used it. You can probably figure out who that was; for now I'm neutral and will hold that position until I've been able to put it on a boat and try it to see first hand how it works for me. I got a chance to talk to a crappie guide on Fork about it a few weeks ago and he had a love/hate relationship with it. He has it on his boat and loved using it to locate crappie for his clients but then he come to realize so many people were doing it his regular crappie spots were empty of fish. In a catch and eat world I can see it having a negative effect.

A skillet and deep fryer affect fisheries way more than FFS......LOL But...see ogles824's post above. The number of crappie (bass too probably) hitting the grease will increase big time as FFS is used by the catch and eats.

Yes it is legal to catch and eat both species (for now). That's not the point. The point is that FFS will reduce the fish stocks in our lakes as it becomes easier for catch and eat fishermen to catch limits and remove them from the lake. In a few years, I expect TPWD to do creel surveys and reduce bag limits, especially for crappie, drastically.

My people tell me it has no affect on crappie because they reproduce and grow very fast.
Time will tell.
