So many comments and most all have their merits. I do see two elephants in the room:
(1) Boring to watch guys using it on live- It influences how fans watch or choose not to watch live when the “pros” are leaning over it all day. It boring as hell. I think that impacts viewership to the negative. I do think that when BASS inserted the HB screen it made it a little more bearable, but not as good to watch as it used to be pre-FFS.
(2) Running off co-anglers - Case in point the BFL wildcard All American Qualifiers on Pickwick a few weeks ago was short 30+ co’s who opted not to even fish it. The overwhelming comments on FB was that FFS created more back boating than a site fishing tournament. Think about it, nowadays ALL the derbies are pretty much FFS events. Goodbye Co-Anglers!
All that said, I love FFS as an angler. It’s a helluva tool. I’ve used Livescope now for about 4 years and won’t fish without it. (I’m in my 60’s) It’s not so good for those producing fishing tournament shows and putting on tournaments with coanglers.

So. That’s how FFS affects the 1% that tournament fish…..How does it affect the other 99% that don’t give a [censored] about tournaments? Is it boring for them?

A lot of guys talk bout it, so I’d guess a lot more than 1%. I don’t really care. I just use it because it works. It’s just a big topic of discussion and guys seem to make a living (Blaukat) just bitching about it. No denying the technology it sells itself with or without ads on a show or in a magazine. Cats out of the bag.

Your spot on, on both those observations. Whether it will be regulated time will tell, I think the tournament organizations would prefer the state agencies to regulate first, I sure hope tpwd is doing some studies if it has any affect on the fisheries.

Maybe TPWD should do a study on how spraying hydrilla kills fisheries.

Most fisherman couldn’t care about the effects of FFS on washed up tourney guys.

Why would it be so detrimental to our fisheries. By far most bass anglers practice catch and release anyway.

Threw em all back as quick as I caught em. I kept a few crappie.
