I wish I had pics of my granddad's 742 to share here. Beautiful rifle. He had some custom weaving done to the forepiece and some engraving done on the rifle that was outlined in gold. My dad has that rifle.

An old Remington Gamemaster with a time period correct Weaver or Leupold 4x  Remington 760 Gamemaster 30.06 Pump Rifle ![[Linked Image]](https://gbapics-bbhmapccg7fxbje0.z01.azurefd.net/pics/1018958000/1018958895/pix262624833.jpg) best elk round for sw colorado imo. had quite a few hunters with remingtons, those and the weatherbys in .06 or 7mag were my favorites.

That's really what I want. My very first rifle I bought myself was a stainless 700 on synthetic stock 270. I don't have that rifle anymore for reasons I'd rather not discuss right now. Hocked it for rent back in the day?

I have a 270 and a 25 06 , I am not a fan of the 30 06 or the semi auto . Father has a browning semi 30 06 and its not tuned in like my bolt actions are. Doubt I can group an inch at 100 with it. I watched a buddy at the range many times trying to dial in his Rem 7400.
I say go 270. I have an ugly wood stock savage 110 that hits where you point it. Pretty sure I have a monarch scope on it. Vortex diamondback on the rem 700 25 06.
