Everyone is right about this lake, it's fishing very tough! I was able to cash a check in this event with just six keepers over two days. I put together a video on my experience fishing this lake. I'm definitely no expert and have only fished there just five days total now but was able to catch enough to get a check.

Whitney is a tough lake and that reputation is earned. I love the Brazos lakes but unless you're after carp or stripers it's a bit of a bust. For shore fishing stripers though it's been good to me but LGM are few and far between. I've caught them up against the dam this time of year on the lofers bend side but I haven't been there since January. Just hasn't been worth it, I can get skunked at Ray Roberts for a tenth of the drive time.

And they put Hybrid Striper in there Hybrids are all well and good but the problem is most of the local white bass fisherman can't tell the difference between a 1-2lb white bass or a 1-2 lb hybrid, so they all get kept. You never see any game wardens checking people for keeping illegal hybrids. Eventually, even the hybrids they have stocked get depleted pretty fast.
