Looked at and tested several new boats in 08 and 09, there were a couple I knew I wouldn't get just from past experiences. It came down to a Skeeter or a BassCat, I took the BassCat. My plan was to get a new Eyra with a 300r when I retired but a couple strokes changed all that. Gotta admit though the new Caracal STS with the 300 being a solid 90 mph boat makes it tempting.

I remember dreaming about the 18V Kenner every time I read Texas Fish & Game Magazine. This boat looked sexy to me; plain and simple, and priced just right. I still own my 97 Kenner and have made modifications over the years; pulled the carpet and added a rear deck for storage.
I am really thinking about another mod in the near future; steps for the front deck, rewire, and hang a new (used) outboard. I never imagined nor see myself paying these high prices for a used boat.

Reliability and wide deck fishing platform. Crestliner 189 not a big water boat by any means but has a Merc 115 on it and the payments are very manageable. I went from an older bass boat that ran worse and worse over the 10 years I had it and did not want to throw any more money into it. About to get it running again and sell it, money will go towards principal on new boat loan. I had a friend with this same boat and fished a few times and just liked the layout. Everyone likes something different though ya know,

Had it narrowed down to a CAYMAS CX21 PRO and a Phoenix 21 PHX or ELITE II . The deciding factor for me was the dealership, and the amount they were providing on my trade-in. The local dealer came in nearly 9k lower on my trade in then the dealership that was a 2 hour drive. I like the local dealer, but not 9k more then the other. Also like the contingency program.
