Crappie don’t live long enough here to get educated IMO. They see jigs all the time but unless they get caught, they really don’t know what that jig means When you trick a crappie to bite your jig, and they spits it out because it is not food, it is harder to immediately trick him again, he is on to your trick. Come back later you will have a better chance at tricking him again. It seems to me that if I miss a fish, all it does it get him fired up. Most shad don’t sit there waiting to get eaten and the fish missing the jig triggers them to chase harder. This x2 And if ya just had sumthin hard & sharp in ya mouth .Would ya put it in there again / immediately ????

I've caught way too many fish over the years that have a hook already in their throat to think they learn the first time. But I do understand what Slew is saying. Same thing happens on a holiday weekend when the traffic is heavy.

with crappie reaching a harvest size in as little as a year and a half, and some lakes having very large numbers of crappie, it is likely that the first jig many crappie ever see is the one that catches them,, largemouth bass on smaller lakes likely get caught dozens of times during thier life, and see hundreds of lures go over them. with the fact that most gamefish feed primarily at night, the main reason offerings do not get eaten during daytime is they are simply not hungry.. they are resting and digesting food, and trying to stage in areas close to where the night feed will occur, based on baitfish locations,, theres usually alot more crappie being found in the daytime that just will not bite, no matter what you do, than those that will. there are exceptions such as spawn, when the males can be very aggressive, and late fall when they are trying hard to put on weight, but both of these processes dont last very long, when you go to 6 or 7 brushpiles, we used to think, well the crappie are just not here, but with livescope, we now know that theres likely at least a few fish on most brushpiles and most more than we thought.
the difference now, is that we can clearly see when crappie decline our offering, so our logic is that they are getting wise to our game.. but in reality, this has been going on continually . we just didnt know it.
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Lot of people saying the more fish they hear transducers pining, the more they are going to be conditioned to it, and the more they will stay away from it, we are already seeing this. These fish are on to us.

I’ll give my 2 cents, wish Livescope was never invented personally, I caved in and got it eventually I’ll admit. Since Livescope has been around way more people than ever can catch crappie consistently that never could before, that is a fact! I have seen it on the lakes I fish more, way more people fishing than ever before and they are pulling way more fish out than pre Livescope, guides especially.
Not sure about the whole pinging deal.
I will say this, I have been crappie fishing with a jig pole and a jig for More than 50years. I still caught the [censored] out of the crappie from March to the end of June like I have forever but it’s July now, as usual the bite gets tough this time of year, has nothing to do with Livescope.
The reason don’t fish much after the end of June every year.

I agree, too many people with Livescope can catch crappie now.

There are days where I see fish will go to the opposite side of the structure and some days they'll take off long before I get to the structure. I can't say they know it's livescope but will say they definitely can feel it and react some days.... Other days they don't care and I can get right on to of them..... I've been saying this for years and will say it again, these fish are different than any species I've ever chased, once you get it in your thick skull that they make the rules and change them often you will consistently catch them.... And more importantly you best be ready to make some changes if you're not getting the right reactions from them..... I totally agree with Nelle, some of these so called pro fisherman nowadays were wishermen before livescope and I mean a lot of them.... Livescope is here to stay and I totally enjoy using it seeing what's down there more clearly..... Garmin has this thing figured out and I'm not sure they can improve it other than going 360 live....

Turned off all of my electronics and within a few minutes we began catching them again so i do believe that fish can feel or sense the pinging in the water.

Not long ago I was out at Aquila fishing for catfish. In 4 hours I saw 3 boats come by with a guy looking into a pretty big screen mounted on the front of the boat, they ran the same route in front of me down the treeline. They all caught fish and they threw every one of them back. You can't tell me that being able to pinpoint fish, see your jig doesn't improve the odds of catching said fish. The other point of course is these fisherman wasted no time on trees that had no fish, they are going to be in the strike zone longer.

I don't think that the ping of the sonar (any sonar) causes fish to not bite. However, it may push them out of the area. If you pull up on a tree full fish and they all scatter....Maybe the sonar or the boat spooked them. If they don't scatter and you can't get them to bite. Then they're just not feeding. If you turn off your electronics and they start biting a "few" minutes later...it's likely they just started to feed. I see this happen without turning off the FFS. Figuring out the puzzle is what makes it fun.
Just my opinion. That and $5 will get you a coffee!
